COLOMBO HERE WE COME.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka. Before my googling, I only know the followings about this city:

1. There's a Noritake Factory somewhere here.

2. The crabs are humongous.
3. The infamous ceylon tea.
4. It's somewhere near India.
5. Maldives is also nearby.

My interest in this city has risen due to the fact that I will soon be heading its way and call it home for perhaps the next 2-3 years. Still much to learn about the country and I guess being there in person is as best as it gets at discovering Sri Lanka.

We're not moving there for another month or so but I have bought myself a Sinhala phrasebook by lonely planet. If all else fail, at least I can say hallo in sinhalese.. and that's "aah-yu-boh-wahn"..

Back to  my phrasebook. Will update more later..

SURPRISE MY BEBEH, JAPANESE CUISINE FOR U

I was slaving myself painting whole afternoon yesterday in an effort to give Saera's second-hand cabinet a new outlook. While hubby took care of Saera, I managed to paint all the drawers, cabinet doors as well as the body with a little help from my helper, Darma. Yeay US!! (okay too much of London Tipton there - fm Disney Channel)

So, upon completion, I went to our bedroom and said, "Pls surprise me with dinner cos I ain't gonna cook.." And much to my surprise (this was before he took me to the restaurant cos he usually insists on homecooked meals), he said, "Sure". Again, Yeay ME!!

We showered, got ready and boarded the car. He was driving around town and I kept asking, "So, where are we heading? So I can start thinking of my meal." (yes I was that famished) and to my annoyance he answered, "U'll order when u get there.." and I kept on to it, "Yes I know. But I wanna start thinking of what to eat so I can order right away.." and still he said increasing my annoyance, "It won't take that long to order. Just glance thru the menu when we arrive" and as I was about to yap some more, he pulled into the parking. "Uh where are we eating??" (I ask this cos usually I don't get good restaurants at the end of the month prior pay day) "We eating here? Why are we eating here" (Too late cos now i sound ungrateful) And now to his annoyance, "You told me to surprise you didn't you?"

And surprised me he did. He knows how much I love Japanese food, so he took me to Kamameshi, a Japanese Cuisine & Fine Seafood Restaurant in Tauheed Commercial Area. I won't say it's the best Japanese Restaurant ever, cos I had better, but it was there. Loved the teppanyaki. The tempura was also good. But the agedashi tofu needs some working and the teriyaki was way way salty and they need to serve some fresh juice please instead of them bottled ones. We also had california maki which was to my liking and a variety of fried rice that hubby seems to enjoy (he rarely eats Japanese). Portion wise, I'd say tis a hefty one but for the price they're charging, it better be. Then again, their pricing is average to those of other Japanese Restaurants in Karachi and I prefer their setup better for a relaxing dinner. Visit here again I will (now speaking like Yoda am I?? haha). Follow the link on the logo to get more info on the restaurant.
